Rethinking the Yacht House
The goal of the exercise was to advance an existing construction detail. The Yacht House by Richard Horden provides a construction system based on the principles of the nautical structure. The construction system used has a very good ease of implementation and is a good economic solution for a modular project. However, it has a number of disadvantages. It can be used only in flat areas and it cannot be extended on more levels.
The project aims to increase the potential of the construction system while maintaining its advantages and solving its disadvantages. The connection node between the metal elements has been enlarged to allow not only the interlocking of 4 tubes on the horizontal plane but also two other elements on the vertical plane. This modification allows the construction in height and also to adapt the structure to unevenness of the ground.
The structure has also been placed on the façade in order to highlight its specificity and on this metal frame modular cladding panels have been assembled.
